UC Davis "Utilities Consumption Dashboard" Tracks Energy Use Campus-wide - June, 2008
A newly launched website shows campus-wide and building-specific electricity use and cost for the UC Davis campus in Davis, CA (excludes Sacramento facilities such as the UC Davis Medical Center).
Entitled the"Utilities Consumption Dashboard,"it pulls real-time data from the same monitoring system that Facilities Management utility technicians use. The goal of the site is to give the campus community a sense of connection with and spur greater effort in implementation of energy conservation and efficiency measures.
According to the site, "it is intended to empower collective and individual action to eliminate unnecessary energy use". Real-time and historical data on the site can be used as a baseline to evaluate and measure the energy conservation and energy efficiency strategies implemented by the various departments and centers housed within these buildings. Fifty of the UC Davis main campus buildings are included in the "dashboard".
